The Beginner’s Guide For Clients Preparing For Their First Eyelash Extensions

If you’re a Lash Technician looking to help your new clients prepare for their first eyelash extension appointment, you’ve come to the right place. Getting Eyelash Extensions for the first time is an exciting experience, but it can also be a bit daunting for those who are new to the process. Here’s a handy guide you can share with your clients so they can ensure their lash appointment goes smoothly and their eyelash extensions last as long as possible.

    Preparing For Their Lash Appointment

Start with a Clean Slate: Advise your clients to come to their lash appointment with a clean face and eyes. They should remove all makeup, especially around the eyes and eyelashes. Remind them to also steer clear of oil-based cleansers or mascaras as they can leave a residue that might affect the lash adhesive.

Skip the Caffeine: Encourage your clients to avoid caffeine for a few hours before their lash appointment. Caffeine can make the eyes twitch, which makes it more challenging to apply the lash extensions precisely.

Wear Something Comfortable: Since lash appointments can take anywhere between 1.5 to 3 hours, suggest to your clients that they wear comfortable clothing. They’ll be lying down with their eyes closed for a while, so comfort is key.

Ditch the Eye Cream: On the day of their eyelash appointment, tell your clients to avoid applying eye cream or any oily products around their eyes. This helps ensure their lids and lashes are clean and ready for eyelash extensions.

Arrive Early: Encourage your clients to arrive a little early. This gives them time to relax, fill out any necessary paperwork, and ask last-minute questions without feeling rushed during their consultation. A consultation is a great time to understand their desires and figure out the perfect lash style that will suit them and their wants. It’s a great way to start their lash appointment without any stress.

    Aftercare Advice For Lash Extensions

After finishing their eyelash extensions set, your clients have finally jumped into the world of lash extensions with a stunning new set. Now, it’s time to ensure they last. Here’s how they can keep them looking fabulous for as long as possible:

Avoid Water for 24 Hours: To allow the lash extensions glue enough time to cure properly (if you aren’t using a lash sealant like Superbonder) clients should avoid getting their lash extensions wet for the first 24 hours. This includes steam from showers and saunas too.

Be Gentle: Remind them to treat their lash set with care. They should avoid rubbing their eyes and be gentle when cleansing their face. As well as using a soft, oil-free Lash Shampoo and Cleansing Lash Brush to wash their lashes daily to keep them squeaky clean.

Daily Lash Brushing: Offer your clients a Lash Brush at the end of their appointment and advise them to brush their lashes daily, as this will help to keep their eyelash extensions looking neat and tangle-free.

Avoid Oil-Based Products: Oil-based makeup, makeup removers and skincare products can sneak inbetween the lash glue bonds between the eyelash extensions and natural lashes. So encourage your clients to use oil-free products to maintain the strength of their lash bonds for amazing retention.

Say No to Mascara: One of the perks of lash extensions is that there’s no need for mascara. But if they really insist on using it, then recommend an eyelash extension-friendly mascara like InLei® Frida Mascara and advise them to apply it sparingly.

Schedule Regular Infills: To keep their lashes looking full and fresh, clients should book regular infill appointments every 2-3 weeks to replace any lash extensions that have naturally shed and maintain their lush look.
